# Glossary

**Axis.** One dimension of a design: direction, menu, dock, palette, type pair, line language or a section's variant.

**Brief.** The facts a site is built on.

**Direction.** The overall look of a design.

**Dock.** The small bar that keeps the main action close.

**Kit.** A ready-made part of a web app, such as members or booking.

**Library.** All approved parts a design can be made from.

**Palette.** A set of colours, checked for contrast.

**Preset.** A saved design, or a starting spec for a web app.

**Publish.** Build the site and put it live.

**Rollback.** Put an earlier publish back.

**Spec.** The description of a web app: kits, entities and the member area.

**Type pair.** A heading font and a body font that go together.
